The importance of exfoliation

Exfoliation helps to improve your skin's health. It helps keep your skin's tight,smooth, and looking young. When you clear the dead skin cells regularly with exfoliation you unclog pores, increasing your skin's ability to absorb your skincare products, radiances, preventing acne.

You should exfoliate two to three times per week depending on how your skin responds. Exfoliating to much will strip skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling extremely dry and irritated. There are a few signs that you need to exfoliate your skin

  • your skin looks dull

  • breakouts

  • your pores look clogged

  • Your skin products are not absorbing into your skin

An exfoliant product doesn’t have to be expensive! There are many natural products that you probably have in your kitchen that can be used for exfoliating. Ingredients like baking soda, finely grounded sugar, coffee grounds, and oatmeal are all great natural options.


If you use a scrub apply gently using small circular motions. You should wash your face before exfoliating to help your product work into the pores, more so than cleansers. Do this for about 30 seconds, and then rinse with lukewarm water. If you use a brush or sponge, use short light strokes. Never exfoliate if you have open cuts, wounds or sunburned.
